In his speech in the Indian city Daramasale Dalai Lama accused China of trying to destroy Buddhism in Tibet, occupied in 1951, claiming that its “patriotic re-education campaign on” Chinese authorities “make the life of Tibetan monks and nuns in the likeness of imprisonment”.
“One can not mention the people of East Turkestan (Xinjiang Province), which is experiencing great difficulties and all increasingly subjected to repression, – quotes the religious leader of al-Jazeera. – I want to express our solidarity and affirm that I am on their side “.
Recall that in July last year in the province of Xinjiang took place, popular unrest, sparked by the authorities of the country, systematically moving into this predominantly Muslim region of ethnic Han Chinese from other densely populated areas.
The reason for the start of speeches was the murder of two of the Uighurs during an argument in a toy factory. Angry Uighur population came to the streets of the provincial capital of Urumqi, protesting against the inaction of justice, the Chinese authorities imposed restrictions and policies of resettlement.
In order to suppress the demonstrations the police had used firearms. According to official sources, the Chinese guards shot and killed about 12 people. According to others, during the riots killed more than 200 people, 1000 people were injured.
Following these events, Chinese security officials have raided in the areas of primary settlement of the Uighurs, arresting dozens of people on charges of rebellion. 12 of them were sentenced to death decisions of the courts, which unanimously condemned the international human rights organizations.
