In Afghanistan, a suicide bomber blew himself up. This happened at a military base used by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Eight U.S. servicemen were killed. The U.S. State Department confirmed an explosion in Afghanistan.
According to the information portal Islamonline, Afghan army officer blew himself up and killed eight CIA employees.
“We mourn the losses that occurred as a result of the attack, but will refrain from the details of the incident until such time as the closest relatives of the victims will not be informed of this,” – said a spokesman for the U.S. State Department, Ian Kelly.
Eight U.S. citizens may have been agents of the CIA, reported BBC.
According to sources in the Pentagon, the Americans were killed in the explosion, arranged by a suicide bomber at a U.S. military base in Khost Province in southeastern Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan.
